Bienvenido a Bracher. Muchas veces hablar con los maestros y el personal de la escuela puede ser intimidante, especialmente si usted no se siente cómodo con sus propias habilidades en inglés. Sin embargo, los maestros y el personal de la escuela además de informarle sobre el progreso general de su estudiante, pueden sugerirle y señalarle recursos útiles y disponibles para ayudar a su familia. Mi nombre es Cecilia Altamirano y estoy para servirle, no dude en comunicarse conmigo si tiene alguna pregunta con lo siguiente:

What is the ELPAC?
The ELPAC is California´s assessment of a child´s English language proficiency. In accordance to State law and federal laws, schools are mandated to test
- newly enrolled students whose primary language is not English, as an initial assessment, and
- students who are English learners (ELs), as an annual summative assessment (SA).
The ELPAC is used to assess and monitor EL students’ progress toward English language proficiency. EL students continue to take the ELPAC SA annually until they meet the reclassification criteria.
Why is my child required to take it - if he/she does not even speak the native foreign language?
The State of California uses the Home Language Survey so that schools can determine the language(s) spoken in the home of each student. The Home Language Survey parents fill out at the time of registration dictates whether a student must be given the ELPAC.
